I can tell you the exact moment my love affair with thrift stores began. It was just about 10 years ago, when I stumbled upon a pair of $90, hardly worn, navy wool Stegmann clogs, size 7 ½ medium, priced at $5.99 on the back shelf at the Goodwill outlet in Portland, Maine. No other pair of shoes has fit me as perfectly or lasted as long for so little a price. Through my now decade-long hunt for a replacement pair, I’ve come across similar drool-worthy deals. I’ve also picked up some helpful shopping lessons I’d love to share with you here, through my blog.
